Cook County wins 54 awards from national association of counties

Cook County has received a record 54 achievement awards from the National Association of Counties, recognizing innovative, effective county government programs, officials announced this week.

“These awards acknowledge the initiatives we have undertaken to ensure that our residents receive vital services and have the opportunity to thrive in our community,” County Board President Toni Preckwinkle said in the announcement.

The awards include a “Best in Category” recognition for Cook County Health’s “Addressing Food Insecurity among Medicaid Members: FoodCare by County Care initiative.”

The county also received awards for its Medical Debt Relief program, Property Tax Reform Group, and the Build Up Cook initiative, which helps under-resourced communities access infrastructure fund.

Recognition also went to the county’s Source Grant program, a $50 million investment in small businesses, and its Center for Hard to Recycle Materials.
