Stars, stripes and Snow Owls: Group decorates float for Arlington Heights July Fourth parade

The Snow Owls, a local dad and daughter program, is excited to announce its participation in the upcoming Arlington Heights Fourth of July parade. The group will showcase its parade float, proudly named “Star, Stripes and Snow Owls.”

The Snow Owls is part of the Big Waters Federation, one of the largest parent-child programs in the Chicago area The program is designed for parents to spend one-on-one time with their kids. Whether it’s hiking, camping, fishing, a museum sleepover, or simply eating s’mores around a warm campfire, the Big Waters Federation Program helps build lasting memories.

“We are always thrilled to take part in the Fourth of July parade and contribute to the festivities,” said John Garb, chief of the Snow Owls. The float, themed “Stars, Stripes, and Snow Owls,” will feature vibrant decorations, including our very own patriotic Snow Owl.

“My friends and I had so much fun decorating the parade float this year, and we can't wait to see everyone at the parade and hand out Pop-Ice,” said Kathryn Garb.

The Snow Owls would like to thank the community and its sponsors for their continued support. We would especially like to extend our gratitude to Jerry Reese, who has been volunteering to drive his truck and trailer for the Snow Owls, going on 10 years now, ever since his great nieces were Snow Owls.

Community members are invited to watch the parade and cheer on the Snow Owls as they proudly display their float. The parade will take place at 10 a.m. on July 4, starting at Dunton and Oakton, traveling south on Dunton to Miner, and then east to Recreation Park.
