Charities encouraged to apply for grant from Elgin Sing-Along Messiah

Elgin Sing-Along Messiah is accepting applications for its charitable partnership for its upcoming winter performance.

To qualify, charities must provide food, housing, or shelter to people in need in Elgin, Illinois, and be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Interested charities may apply online at www.elginsing-alongmessiah.org. The deadline for applications is Friday, July 12.

Elgin Sing-Along Messiah is an interactive event planned by a committee of Elgin-area community members that showcases the talent of local vocalists and musicians, including the Elgin Symphony Orchestra and the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra, while including the audience as an active participant in the choruses.

The Dec. 6 event is an opportunity for the community to come together to celebrate the start of the holiday season by celebrating, singing, and giving back to the community. The concert will be at 7 p.m. at Elgin Community College’s Blizzard Theater.

Proceeds from the event, along with free-will donations, support the selected local charity.

The Sing-Along debuted in 2022 and raised more than $3,500 for Food for Greater Elgin. Last year, Elgin Sing-Along Messiah provided more than $5,500 to Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley.

Tickets for the Sing-Along will go on sale in September. For more information, visit www.elginsing-alongmessiah.org and follow @ElginSingAlongMessiah on Instagram and GreaterElginSingAlongMessiah on Facebook.
