MainStreet Libertyville Twilight Shuffle takes off Sept. 3
The 16th Annual MainStreet Libertyville Twilight Shuffle 5K Run will be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 3.
The Twilight Shuffle is an evening of fun for the entire family. The race offers professional chip-timing and a beautiful course that winds through the historic downtown neighborhoods lined with spectators.
Elite and recreational runners, first-time racers, families and caregivers pushing jogging strollers have enjoyed this 3.12-mile event for 15 years. Children ages 4-12 can participate in the "Little Dipper" 800-meter dash before the main event. A post-race celebration is planned behind Pizzeria DeVille at 404 N. Milwaukee Ave. in downtown Libertyville.
MainStreet board member Beth Gallery is excited for this year's race.
"The Twilight Shuffle is a festive event with many neighbors out cheering on the runners," Gallery said. "I've loved running by my friends and family in years past, and then celebrating with them out at our local restaurants after finishing the race."
"We are very happy to put on another amazing event, and I'd love for you to experience what I love about Libertyville. If you're in the Northern suburbs of Chicago, please consider running or volunteering with us," Gallery said.
Downtown Libertyville is easily accessible via the Metra Milwaukee District North train line. The Metra station is in the heart of downtown Libertyville, across the street from the race starting line.

The Twilight Shuffle depends on volunteers who keep the race safe and organized. There are plenty of opportunities to help on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 1-3. especially on the racecourse itself.
