Political indifference
The allegiance of political empathy between Richard M. Daley and Rahm Emanuel is striking. Both promised to serve and improve the city of Chicago, albeit through taxation, yet assured the citizens such expenses will be short lived and/or improvements will offset the expenditures. Both spoke eloquently and in a monotone style. As the cost of labor and materials rose and tempers from city council and elsewhere escalated, Daley showed raw arrogance by destroying Meigs Field, whereas Rahm pledges improvements - at a cost.
Only in Cook County are taxes the norm. It has been said few states have greater taxation than Illinois. It is unnerving that Illinois is the only state in the Union where people leave in record numbers and budgets are seldom reached and/or agreed upon.
