Winners named for West Chicago's holiday house decorating contest

A Holiday House Decorating Contest, sponsored by the City of West Chicago and the West Chicago Park District, highlighted the great festive holiday spirit that lives in the community.

A total of 23 registered homes participated and pulled out all the stops for the creative displays.

Decorations ranged the holiday spectrum with every iconic figure from gingerbread men to all the characters from the animated classic, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

Winners were announced on the city's Frosty Fest Facebook page. They are:

• First place: 479 Colford Ave. with the singing trees;

• Second place: 300 Bayberry Court with the huge inflatables;

• People's Choice: 213 York Ave. with Grinch and Max.

The city and park district wish to thank all the participants, voters, and judges that made the virtual holiday such fun.

For those who haven't checked out the homes yet, there is still time.

Use the interactive map provided by the city (found on the website at westchicago.org) to take a tour of all participating homes.

Children of all ages will enjoy the magic and wonder of the season through the efforts of their fellow community members.
