Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley to host tutor training Jan. 10

Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley will host a free tutor training workshop in January. Currently, there are 20 adults who are waiting to learn.

It will be held from 6:30-9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 10-19, at the St. Charles Public Library, 1 S. Sixth Ave.

The nonprofit organization helps adults communicate in English by matching them with trained volunteer tutors who provide in-person or virtual lessons once each week.

Volunteers do not need teaching experience or a second language to be successful. The program provides material and instruction so anyone can help.

Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley provides free, one-to-one literacy tutoring to adults in St. Charles, Geneva, Batavia, Elburn, Campton Hills, La Fox, Lily Lake, Wasco and Wayne.

To register for the workshop, visit www.lvfv.org or call/text (630) 584-4428.

The next training date will be 6:30 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, Feb. 6-15, at the library.
