Hanover Park man sentenced after child sex sting
A Hanover Park man was sentenced to prison Thursday after pleading guilty to attempting to have sex with a child, Kane County officials said.
Nabeel Afsar, 23, thought he was meeting a 15-year-old girl for sex in an Aurora hotel room in December 2014, prosecutors said. Afsar met with a woman he thought was the girl's mother, confirmed he wanted sexual favors for 30 minutes, and paid her $80, prosecutors said. He was arrested by officers from Homeland Security and the Aurora Police Department.
On Thursday, he pleaded guilty to traveling to meet a minor and in exchange accepted a plea of 33 months in prison. He's eligible for day-to-day credit, and he'll be required to register as a sex offender for 10 years after serving his prison sentence. He receives credit for two days served in the Kane County jail and was free on $3,500 bond.
