Lake County Board to talk gambling ban Tuesday
The Lake County Board will meet Tuesday morning in Waukegan to discuss a moratorium on new video gambling machines at businesses in unincorporated areas and other business.
The board's financial and administrative committee last month recommended the full board ban addition video gambling terminals at bars, restaurants and other gathering spots. As of May 31, nearly 300 video gambling machines operated at 63 locations in unincorporated areas of the county. The machines generated $43.2 million for Illinois and $14.6 million for the county in 2018, according to state records.
Any change in county rules wouldn't affect video gambling in Lake County's municipalities, which have their own rules.
The session is set for 9 a.m. at the county government center, 18 N. County St. It's open to the public.
