Greenbrier Classic to fans: Register online to get in free

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. (AP) - The Greenbrier Classic has released details about giving golf fans free admission to the July tournament for the entire week.

Tournament officials announced Wednesday fans must register online, then donate a nonperishable food item at the event. The food will be given to area food pantries. Tickets can be picked up at will call.

The complimentary grounds badges will be capped at 32,000 daily.

PGA Tour chief of operations Andy Pazdee says officials applaud Greenbrier resort owner Jim Justice's desire to see young fans exposed to the game of golf.

While free fan admission is rare, it's not a first. The PGA Tour says the Tournament of Champions in Hawaii did the same thing several years ago.

Other badges at the Greenbrier are available for purchase providing access to various amenities.
