Rotary Club of Lake in the Hills gives out 200 Thanksgiving meals

While the cost of a Thanksgiving dinner may be down from last year, many families are still struggling to pay for their meal.

With the help of Jewel/Osco in Huntley and Northern Illinois Food Bank, the Rotary Club of Lake in the Hills gave out 200 Thanksgiving meals on Sunday, Nov. 19.

The club has been doing this project over the last seven years and have donated nearly 2,000 meals for families at Thanksgiving.

Giving away 200 meals is no easy feat and demonstrates, unfortunately, there is still a significant need in the Lake in the Hills area for people to provide holiday meals for their families

This event is made possible by the donations from the Jewel store at 13200 Village Green Drive in Huntley, the Northern Illinois Food Bank, and the Rockin Rotary Ribfest, the premier fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Lake in the Hills.

In December, the club will also be giving away Christmas meals with the Algonquin-based Community Unit District 300 Food Pantry in conjunction with Jacobs High School in Algonquin.

The club meets at noon on the first Wednesday of the month at Boulder Ridge Country Club, 350 Boulder Drive. The next meeting will be Dec. 6.
