Recycle cloths and textiles

The Solid Waste Agency of Lake County is reminding residents there are 22 collection bins throughout the county for clothing and textiles as part of a new recycling program. The average person throws away 70 pounds of clothing each year and the dense materials consume significant landfill space. The program accepts new, gently used, used or unwanted/worn, women's, men's and children's clothing and textiles, including items with stains or holes. All fabrics will be accepted. About 95 percent of the collected items are recycled. Proceeds support community and environmental education, outreach and programs.
