Sinfonietta DuPage fall concert to explore the music of Mozart

Join the Sinfonietta DuPage in its fall concert featuring Chicago Symphony violist Danny Lai and his wife, violinist Lauren Lai, in Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante K364 for solo violin and viola.

The orchestra also will perform Mozart's Symphony No. 31 (the "Paris" symphony) as well as two of Dvorak's Slavonic Dances, op. 72.

Danny and Lauren Lai are passionate about bringing classical music to musicians from underrepresented backgrounds.

In addition to being assistant concertmaster with the Northwest Indiana Symphony, Lauren Lai is a strong believer in the power of music to transform lives and has conducted two tours in the Middle East to help bring healing through music to refugees.

Danny Lai, a member of the Chicago Symphony since 2014, is on the faculty of Chicago Musical Pathways Initiative, building a robust training pathway for musicians. He is also a founding member of the humanitarian mission Music Heals Us. Danny has traveled across Israel, West Bank, Jordan, and to the refugee camps near the Syrian border, sharing the joy of collective music-making with communities living in difficult circumstances, displaced by ongoing armed conflicts.

The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, at the Peace Lutheran Church, 21W500 Butterfield Road in Lombard. Tickets are $22 or $12 for seniors or students, available at the door only. Parking is free and there is ample intimate seating.

Sinfonietta DuPage is a relatively new Sinfonietta Bel Canto initiative, forming a chamber orchestra under Sinfonietta Bel Canto auspices.
