Zeigler buying three luxury auto dealerships in Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates
Zeigler Automotive Group announced Monday that it expects to close the largest acquisition in its history early next week with the purchase of three luxury vehicle dealerships along Golf Road in Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates.
The three dealerships are Mercedes and Sprinter of Hoffman Estates, 1000 W. Golf Road; Jaguar Land Rover Schaumburg, 920 W. Golf Road; and Infiniti of Hoffman Estates, 1075 W. Golf Road.
All three have been owned by Motor Werks Auto Group, which is holding onto its dealerships in Barrington.
Zeigler representatives said the three purchases will add 5,000 new units per year at $350 million in annual sales to the company's portfolio. This will bring the group's total annual sales to $1.7 billion on 40,000 vehicles.
"We are excited to be adding these new dealers to our lineup," Zeigler Automotive Group President Aaron Zeigler said in a written statement. "These are high-performing stores that will undoubtedly expand our luxury reach in the market and give our customers more options with the same exceptional service they've come to expect from Zeigler."
The automotive group, based in Kalamazoo, Michigan, has no plans to rebrand the dealerships under its own name. It also intends to retain the Motor Werks staff, but with the additions of two new leaders from Zeigler.
Bill O'Hara will oversee the new dealerships in the region as vice president of Zeigler Automotive Group, while Mike Connolly, who currently works at Nissan Orland Park, will become general manager of Mercedes-Benz and Sprinter of Hoffman Estates.
Zeigler intends to take over operations at the three dealerships on Monday, Jan. 20 - the same day the transaction is scheduled to be finalized. Official grand openings are expected soon, but not yet set.
Zeigler Automotive Group was founded in 1975 and currently operates 75 franchises at 30 locations in Illinois, Indiana and Michigan.
