Financial 'reform' will likely hurt

I read with interest today a letter written by David Vite, president of an organization called the Illinois Retail Merchants Association. The point of the letter was to praise that noted economist and Harry Reid lap dog, Dick Durbin, for his role in adding an amendment to the financial "reform" legislation that limits the amount of fees that credit card companies can charge its merchant clients. As with all government meddling in the free economy, I am sure this law will have unintended consequences that end up harming the very people it is intended to help. I wonder if Mr. Vite would be as effusive in his praise for Mr. Durbin if the good Senator helped usher a law through Congress that would limit the profit margins of the Illinois Retailers he represents.
