Flags are in honor of fallen local soldier
When people walk or drive through the Wildwood area they notice the American flags on the street sign posts, and many believe that the Wildwood Home Owners Association or Warren Township placed them there for the Fourth of July holiday.
Let me tell you the true story. A few years back on July 10, Army Ranger SPC Joseph “Joey” Dimock suffered a fatal injury while serving his country in Afghanistan. The American flags are put up each year by his parents, Joseph and Ellen Dimock, along with family, friends, Wildwood Presbyterian Church members, and their Scout Troop 672, in which Joey was involved. It is in his honor and in his memory that you will see these flags come out each year. The flag displays his name and military information.
So now you know the reason behind the flags and why you see them out every year since. If you see a flag broken or one on the ground, please pick it up and place it back on the sign post in Joey’s memory. Thank you for your help.
