Bret Michaels to perform in St. Charles

It will be nothin' but a good time for St. Charles' historic Arcada Theatre on Aug. 24.

Poison frontman and recent Celebrity Apprentice winner Bret Michaels, who releases his newest album, "Custom Built" next Tuesday, is set to perform at the theater as part of his "Roses and Thorns" tour.

Ron Onesti, who owns the Arcada, said the decision to bring in Michaels is part of a multi-step process to revitalize the 900-seat theater as a more contemporary venue.

"I'm very excited Bret has chosen the Arcada Theatre for what we know will be an amazing event," he said in a news release. "Of all the venues coveting Bret right now, he's bringing it to St. Charles and we're in for an unforgettable show."

Michaels has sold 25 million records and had 15 Top 40 singles during his tenure with Poison, including "Talk Dirty to Me," "Nothin' But a Good Time" and "Every Rose Has its Thorn."

He has become more notable in recent years for his VH1 reality series, "Rock of Love," and his bouts with hospitalization.

Onesti, who has also scheduled KC and the Sunshine Band, Martin Short, Kansas and America to perform at the Arcada later this year, said he is primarily targeting the Baby Boomer market for the majority of the acts.

"It's all about the fun and quality acts out there. There are still those classics acts out there providing us with the songs we grew up on, and we're hoping to foster their legacy," he said.

Tickets for the show are available starting next Tuesday at 10 a.m. Prices start at $59 and are available by phone at (630) 962-700, and online, at oshows.com.
