Atlanta beats O’Hare as nation’s busiest airport

The South wins the latest airport war. O’Hare International Airport is the second busiest airfield in the nation, falling behind Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in the first half of 2011, the FAA reports. O’Hare had 430,953 operations compared to Hartsfield’s 457,724 between January and June.

But O’Hare traffic is climbing, up 1 percent from the same period in 2010 while Atlanta saw a 2.8 percent dip.
