The Land Conservancy of McHenry County offers Beginner's Chainsaw Training Course Oct. 16
The Land Conservancy of McHenry County is offering a beginner's chainsaw training course on Saturday, Oct. 16.
It will take place from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Hennen Conservation Area, 4622 Dean St. Woodstock.
The cost of the course is $35 for members or $50 for nonmembers.
Participants can register to attend at conservemc.org/beginners-chainsaw-training-class/.
The Land Conservancy's ecologist, Megan Orpeza, and Natural Land Institute's director of stewardship, Zach Grycan, will teach the basics of using a chainsaw in a hands-on way.
Participants will be introduced to protective equipment, basic chainsaw maintenance and the development of technique to safely fell a tree and cut it up.
This class is tailored toward beginners who have never used a chainsaw, and the fee includes lunch. The program is limited to 15 participants
