Palatine Chinese school shows its versatility

Dozens of dancers and musicians from the Chicago Northwest Suburban Chinese School offered impressive performances recently at Friendship Village in Schaumburg.

The school, headquartered at William Fremd High School in Palatine but little known outside its own community, has 200 students from preschool to 10th grade. Students presented a program of great variety — from traditional Chinese songs and dances to a Mozart sonata.

Since 1992, the school has been accredited by the Illinois State Board of Education as a foreign language school.
