Cuneo Mansion sets summer events series

Imagine reclining on the back lawn of your 31,000-square-foot mansion. The sun is setting. A summer evening breeze wafts over your 100-acre lot as piano music fills the air.

OK, maybe it's not your mansion, but you can pretend.

The Cuneo Museum and Gardens in Vernon Hills has announced details of music and art events planned for this summer. The list includes an arts fest, concerts, an ABBA tribute and more.

The $50 million estate and grounds were recently donated by the Cuneo Foundation to Loyola University of Chicago. It is the largest single donation Loyola has ever received, officials said.

The first of the events happens Memorial Day weekend.

The Cuneo Gardens Art Fest is scheduled for May 29-30. The show features artists, in a variety of mediums from the region and beyond.

Celebrate the women of pop with tributes to Beyoncé Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, and other divas performed by Piano Man Productions. The show is set for June 23.

If you're a fan of Elton John and Billy Joel, a tribute show is planned for July 21.

A tribute to the Swedish pop group ABBA is set for Aug. 11. Formed in 1972, the band is one of the most successful in pop music history.

The Cuneo season finishes with an antique car show planned for Sept. 12. With the historic Cuneo home as a back drop, step back in time and check out more than 100 classic and vintage automobiles in this annual tradition.

The mansion is on the west side of Milwaukee Avenue just north of Route 60 in Vernon Hills. For more details visit cuneomansion.org or call (847) 362 3042.
