Sherman Health Heart Fair a success

In honor of American Heart Month, Sherman Health hosted its annual Heart and Diabetes Fair on Saturday, Feb. 5.

During the two-hour event, more than 100 attendees visited a variety of booths that featured heart health and diabetes information.

Representatives were on hand from the American Heart Association and a number of Sherman Health Departments, including Food and Nutrition Services, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Education and Community Wellness, Heart Failure Recovery Center, Cardiac Cath Lab, Non-Invasive Cardiology, and the Diabetes Center.

Dr. Amer Rahman, MD, endocronologist on the medical staff at Sherman Health, was also on hand for a presentation about the link between diabetes and heart health.

The fair included free blood pressure screenings, free cholesterol screenings, and a raffle for a Healthy Heart CT Scan.

Attendees who wore red received Sherman Health gym bags, to help kick off a healthy lifestyle.
