Voice your objection to Sunrise changes

In case you are not aware, the village of Libertyville and the Libertyville Parks Department have progressed in their plans to make MAJOR changes to Sunrise Rotary Park (formerly Central Park).

To highlight a couple of changes, the gazebo will be removed making way for an amphitheater, and a fountain will be erected in the center of the park.

The plan is to move several of the Main Street activities out of Cook Park, which they feel is being overused, to Sunrise Rotary Park.

Without considering outcries from the neighbors who are rightly concerned about the increase in both foot and auto traffic in a residential neighborhood, they are moving ahead with their plans.

Is this where you want your taxpayer dollars being spent? Did we all just read that our police are being asked to turn off their engines to save on gas money since our village is facing a serious deficit? Do our senior citizens, especially those living in Liberty Towers, want to walk several more blocks to attend events, such as Thursday evening Concerts in the Park?

If not, please voice your concerns before it is too late. Mayor Harger and James Zych (from the Libertyville Parks Department) need to know how you feel, since they are certainly not listening to the nearby residents.
