Sugar Grove reading program a bit shorter this year

"Read on the Wild Side" is the theme of the Summer Reading Program at the Sugar Grove Public Library, 54 Snow St.

The program has been shortened due to the scheduled move. The last day for participation is Friday, July 3. The final summer reading activity is the "Summer Reading Family Concert on the Lawn" scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 11.

Enjoy AC·Rock, a four-member a cappella singing group. Bring your own blanket, towel or chair. No registration is required. Grand prize winners will be drawn at 6:15 p.m. A thank goes to the Friends of the Sugar Grove Library who sponsored and paid for the special events and performers.

Library services at the Snow Street location will be suspended beginning Monday, July 13, in preparation for the move. Longer due dates on materials have been issued and cardholders are invited to visit neighboring libraries to borrow materials. The book drop at the 54 Snow St. location will remain open for material return.

A Sugar Grove Library card is valid for use at other Illinois libraries under terms of use outlined by Illinois statute. The basic premise of this arrangement is: any person holding a valid borrowers card from a library participating in the Illinois reciprocal borrowing program may be granted reciprocal borrowing privileges at another participating library. Often the library visited will require completion of an application form. A reciprocal borrower may borrow only those items within parameters set by the library visited. These RBP arrangements require that you travel to the lending library for services.

Beginning Saturday, Aug. 8, library services will be available at the new location, 125 S. Municipal Drive, Sugar Grove. This location is four blocks west of the current facility at the intersection of Snow Street and Municipal Drive. The grand opening is at 9 a.m. Aug. 8. Beginning that day, library service hours will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
