Sugar Grove library willing to settle fines for food

During the month of November, the Sugar Grove Public Library is accepting nonperishable donations for the Kaneland Area Food Pantry during "Food for Fines."

The fine for a currently overdue item will be forgiven with the donation of one item to the food for fines drive. Your overdue books must be returned to the desk and checked in by the library staff to be eligible.

You must bring your food pantry item to the library at the time of material return. Items that are lost, damaged, or in collection do not qualify.

The pantry is involved in assisting individuals and families of the Kaneland communities from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursdays at its first-floor office of the Elburn Community Center North, on Route 47. Recommended donations include: canned goods, boxed items, personal care supplies, household paper products and cleaning supplies.

This activity continues a relationship with the library, Conley Outreach and the Sugar Grove West Towns office to benefit the Kaneland Area Food Pantry. Donations are accepted any time during library hours. A box has been set aside for this purpose near the meeting room entrance/exit. For details on fines, call the library at (630) 466-4686. For information on the food pantry, call (630) 365-6655.

The Sugar Grove Library is at Snow and Main streets. Hours are 2 to 9 p.m. Mondays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays. Call (630) 466-4686 or visit sugargrove.lib.il.us. The new facility is scheduled to open late summer 2009 at 125 S. Municipal Drive.
