Hydrant flushing:
Fire hydrant flushing in the Village of Lake Villa will begin Sunday, Oct. 11, and run through Friday, Oct. 30, during the hours of 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Residents may experience rusty water and lower water pressure during these times. Officials say signs will be posted in the neighborhoods scheduled for the maintenance. For details, call the water department at (847) 245-6900.
Talk about writing:
A writer's support group will meet Oct. 14 and Nov. 11 at the Vernon Area Public Library, 300 Olde Half Day Road, Lincolnshire. The sessions are set to run from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. each night. No registration is required. All writers are welcome.
