Could cameras lead to something worse?

This same type of camera being used for red light enforcement here is being installed by the hundreds of thousands in China, but they don't use them to monitor traffic violations. Instead, they are using them in conjunction with facial recognition software to track where people are and with whom they congregate.

Advances in technology and changes in the law are sold to us as improvements in safety, but once they are in place, it is very hard for a bureaucracy to resist "mission creep."

Bit by bit our privacy dissolves. Is this really the direction we want to take in the United States?
