Seals can't even get little things right

If I ever needed excuses not to vote for Dan Seals, he's given them to me in spades with his shockingly poor planning and decisions. Twice now, Dan Seals has tried to hold media events to get some attention for his floundering campaign. Twice his message has been overshadowed by his screw-ups.

In May, Seals held an event in Lincolnshire where he advertised that he would sell significantly discounted gas for one hour only. Any 5-year-old could have predicted that a lot of people would show up, and that it might be a good idea to have some traffic control in place. However, Seals neglected to tell the Lincolnshire police about his planned stunt, and traffic was jammed for miles in every direction. The situation was so bad Seals was fined $3,000 by the Lincolnshire police and public works.

On Sept. 18 Seals held a news conference with former Congressional candidate, and current Blagojevich appointee, Tammy Duckworth. The purpose of the news conference was to attack Mark Kirk's record on veterans, a preposterous idea if I've ever heard one since Kirk is an 18-year Navy veteran and is VFW endorsed. But what got reported was that Duckworth traveled to the event in a state-owned vehicle, which is illegal.

If Dan Seals cannot even hold a press event without it turning into a debacle, what kind of representative would he be? Common sense and good planning are essential for any Congressman. I don't want a guy who couldn't even hold a news conference without screwing it up to be writing our tax laws. Do you?
