Alumni to be honored at Elk Grove homecoming

By Melissa Silverberg

Elk Grove High School will be honoring two distinguished alumni during the 2011 Homecoming celebration at the end of September.

Col. Tim Touzinsky, class of 1976, and Dave Cullen, class of 1979, will be added to the Elk Grove Wall of Achievement and honored at an alumni reception in the school library at 3:40 p.m. on Sept. 30.

Touzinsky is a retired colonel who spent 30 years as a U.S. Army officer. He has been awarded the Defense Superior Service Medal and the Bronze Star Medal for service in Iraq, according to a news release from Northwest Suburban High School District 214.

Cullen has won several awards for his book, “Columbine,” which is the true story of the Columbine High School massacre. The book spent 13 weeks on The New York Times best-seller list and won the Edgar Allan Poe Award for best True Crime book of 2009.

The alumni will also be honored at the Elk Grove football game over homecoming weekend.
