The Mount Prospect village board entered a new era Tuesday night, as two recently elected trustees took their seats.

One 't exactly new, since Trustee William Grossi previously served on the board from 2017 to 2021.

Grossi, incumbent Colleen Saccotelli and newcomer Vince Dante, a former Elk Grove Township trustee, were sworn in for four-year terms they won in the April 4 election.

Trustee John Matuszak, who replaced Paul Hoefert when Hoefert became mayor two years ago, also was sworn in for a two-year term he won in last month's election.

Hoefert sounded a note of optimism about the next four years and said he is eager to roll up his sleeves and get to work.

"I am looking forward to working with our new board of trustees, and we will hit the ground running with our strategic planning sessions next week," he said. "I continue to be very optimistic on the future of Mount Prospect, and I believe the new board will be up to the challenges of leadership."

Outgoing trustees Richard Rogers and Michael Zadel were recognized and honored for their service.

Zadel, who had retired after 20 years as trustee but was pressed back into service when he was appointed to replace Peggy Pissarreck in 2022, received an elaborate send-off after his first retirement, so much of the laudatory verbiage was showered upon Rogers, who was first appointed to the board in 2013. He was elected in 2015 and again in 2019.

Prior to his stint on the board, Rogers brought his expertise as an architect to the village's planning and zoning commission.

"It's been a real honor to be part of this association," Rogers said. "You couldn't find finer people to administer to the people of Mount Prospect."

He thanked Village Manager Michael Cassady and his staff and "particularly the people who voted for me."
