Sound check: 'Luminare' brings holidays to Des Plaines
'Luminare'
During the pandemic lockdowns, Schaumburg native John Blasucci drew on his rock background playing with Dennis DeYoung and roughly 10 years touring with Mannheim Steamroller to create "Luminare," a tour of high-energy, headbanging holiday tunes paired with spectacular visuals. The tour, stopping in Des Plaines this weekend, also features suburban artist Pino Farina on vocals and guitar.

Andrew Bird's Gezelligheid
The popularity of Lake Forest native Andrew Bird's annual Gezelligheid Concerts have caused it to grow from a few each holiday season to this year's seven-concert series. Tapping the Dutch concept of "cozy," the intimate concerts celebrate light in the darkness of winter with a mix of instrumental pieces and fan favorites, all sprinkled with a touch of holiday flair.
8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Dec. 7-8, and Monday through Friday, Dec. 11-15, at the Fourth Presbyterian Church, 126 E. Chestnut St., Chicago. $56-$61. jamusa.com.
