Streamwood man gets 18-year sentence for robbing Naperville gas station

One of two men who robbed a Speedway gasoline station in Naperville in 2017 was sentenced Thursday to spend 18 years in prison.

DuPage County Judge Liam Brennan sentenced Willie Booker, 23, of the 2000 block of Essex Court, Streamwood.

Booker had pleaded guilty in September to one count of armed robbery, as did a co-defendant, Robert Hill, 20, of the 700 block of Bluff Street in Carol Stream.

Hill is scheduled to be sentenced Friday.

On Oct. 15, 2017, Hill and Booker robbed the Speedway at 631 N. Route 59, according to a news release from the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office. Police determined three men wearing masks and gloves had entered the store. Booker pointed a gun at the victim, took the victim's cellphone out of his pocket, pointed the gun at the victim's back and demanded he open the register.

When he thought the victim was stalling, he hit the victim in the back of the head with the barrel of the gun.

Booker then forced the clerk into a backroom and blocked the door with a trash can.

Hill and Booker were arrested 13 days later. The third suspect has not been caught.

"This afternoon, Mr. Booker learned that for his crime he will spend a significant amount of time behind bars where he will be unable to again terrorize an innocent man just trying to make a living," State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in the news release.
