Aurora man sentenced to 28 years in rape case

An Aurora man was sentenced to 28 years in prison for aggravated sexual assault and unlawful restraint, authorities said Tuesday.

Khamsaume D. Xayvong, 59, of the 700 block of East Benton Street, sexually assaulted a woman he knew July 6, 2019.

Xayvong was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the sexual assault and three years for unlawful restraint, according to a news release from the Kane County state's attorney office. He must serve at least 85% of the 25 years and is eligible for day-to-day sentencing for the 3-year sentence.

Xayvong is also required to register for life as a sex offender.
