Naperville beginning brush pickup next week

Naperville will begin its annual brush pickup program next week.

Running from May 9 until June 10, the free pickup will be divided into the city's five collection districts and be based on garbage day for those districts. Brush must be placed on the parkway the Sunday before collection begins in each area.

Branches - which should not be tied or bundled - must measure between three and eight feet in length and be no greater than six inches in diameter. Piles containing nails, metal, stone, vines, stumps, railroad ties or other objects won't be collected.

If brush isn't picked up, a tag will be affixed to the pile explaining the reason.

From March 14 through Dec. 16, residents may dispose of bagged and bundled brush each week through the city's yard waste collection program.
