Fire displaces residents from Aurora home

An Aurora home was left uninhabitable after a fire last week, authorities said Monday.

Firefighters were called to the one-story home on the 1000 block of Grand Boulevard just before 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Arriving firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the basement of the single-family home. An alarm was upgraded, bringing 30 firefighters to the blaze.

There were no residents at home at the time of the fire, authorities said, and no victims were found.

But three adults and two children were displaced from the home. Aurora fire officials said the city's victim services office was not needed because the home's residents had another place to stay.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
