Two hurt, one seriously, in two-vehicle Crystal Lake crash Monday night

Two people were transported to hospitals, one with life-threatening injuries, following a two-vehicle crash Monday evening in Crystal Lake.

Crystal Lake police said the crash happened at about 8 p.m. near the intersection of Route 176 and Haligus Road.

Police said an unnamed woman driving a black Ford Explorer was northbound on Haligus Road when she was struck by white Nissan Rogue headed westbound on Route 176.

The woman sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital. The unnamed male driver of the Nissan suffered minor injuries, but was also transported to a hospital for treatment. Their conditions are unknown.

Police closed the intersection for nearly three hours.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

No citations have been issued.
