Pioneer Center, NISRA partner to offer Bright Program for adults in Huntley

The Pioneer Center and Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association are celebrating the inauguration of the Huntley Bright Program.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, at Deicke Park, 11419 S. Route 47 in Huntley. It is a multi-chamber mixer hosted by the Huntley Chamber of Commerce.

In the Bright Program, the Pioneer Center and NISRA come together and provide a community-based day program serving adults with developmental disabilities in McHenry County.

This partnership allows access to opportunities and activities that are offered by both organizations at one convenient location.

The program focuses on adults, over age 22, with developmental disabilities and provides personal development through case management, community connections and healthy relationships.

The program includes activities ranging from recreation/leisure, community integration, socialization/communication, self-esteem, independent living skills to health and wellness.

Pioneer Center's mission, helping people live a dignified life of well-being, independence and inclusion, and NISRA's mission, enriching the lives of people with disabilities through meaningful recreation experiences offer a solid foundation for the community.

Pioneer Center is a private 501c(3), non-profit organization providing programs for people with developmental disabilities, behavioral health services and homeless shelter needs to the McHenry County community.
