Midwest Veterans Closet receives $97,000 grant

Colonel Mike Peck, Illinois Veterans Advisory Council chair, presented Mary Carmody, director of the Midwest Veterans Closet, North Chicago, with the announcement of a $97,684.26 grant from the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs.

There's approximately $1.5 million available for grants in the fall quarter. Those wanting to apply for the grant need only go to the IDVA website, veterans cash lottery, and complete the application.

Grants are available for organizations that provide assistance with health insurance, long-term care, PTSD, disability claims assistance, homelessness and job placement.

The announcement was made at the North Shore Chicago Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America luncheon at Dover Straits recently.
