Art Wear Unlimited Show presented in Highland Park

At the Art Wear Unlimited Spring Show/Sale, shoppers will have the opportunity to enhance their wardrobes and buy special gifts in time for Mother’s Day and graduation. The show will be from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25; from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, and Friday, April 27; and by appointment at the Highland Park Country Club, 1201 Park Avenue West, Highland Park.

At this semiannual presentation, one-of-a-kind art-to-wear for the fashion individualist is the culmination of many months of work by show organizers Linda Brodson and Kathy Sackheim. The two travel throughout the country looking for clothing, studio jewelry, scarves, purses and hats in all price ranges that are unique and of the high quality. This season’s event will include a number of artists who have become favorites along with the collections of new individuals who Brodson and Sackheim have discovered in their travels.

“This show will feature more casual and fewer special occasion clothing than in the past,” Kathy Sackheim said. “Many of our customers seem to wear a lot of black and enjoy enhancing their look with the interesting jackets, jewelry and scarves that we have at the show.”

“Color is king,” Linda Brodson said of the merchandise they selected for the show. “Our spring event is always filled with items to brighten everyone’s day and anyone’s wardrobe.”

New to the show/sale this season is local artist Jo Ann Baumann who offers beaded jewelry and hand-dyed scarves embedded with her own handcrafted beads. Baumann will be at the show throughout the day on Wednesday, April 25, to talk about her art and her techniques. Unusual items created by Chicago native Danny Mansmith will be on display for purchase. Mansmith’s work is also new to the show.

A treat for shoppers will be the Poshaq silks, the creation of Joyita Ghose, who lives and works in California. She was recently invited to a special pre-Oscar Style Hollywood suite where she had the opportunity to show her work to celebrities, Oscar nominees, directors and producers. And now, Chicago shoppers will have an opportunity to own them as well.
