Residents, staff at area senior living communities receive vaccine

Healthcare residents and staff of Friendship Senior Options communities, Friendship Village of Schaumburg, and GreenFields of Geneva have started receiving the COVID-19 vaccinations.

With guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health and working with pharmacy partner CVS, the residents in Briarwood Healthcare Centers, Reflections Memory Support, and Willows Assisted Living in both senior living communities, as well as all staff members have had the opportunity to receive their first vaccines. In-house clinics for the second doses are being scheduled.

Management continues to work to advocate for independent living residents to receive their vaccinations.

"We are proud to be among the first groups of individuals within Illinois is to begin moving toward protection from this virus," said Colleen Kowalewski, director of life services. "Vaccination is the light at the end of this very long tunnel that we've all been working so hard for. Together we are taking our first step toward a brighter future. We are excited and grateful to be at the front of the line!"
